A 46-year-old Palmerton man died from gunshots wounds Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensics Center reported.

The man, whose name has not been released, was shot multiple times, the coroner said. He was pronounced dead at 7:43 p.m. in the emergency department of the hospital.

The coroner said the shooting occurred at 6:05 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot area of at store at 1155 MacArthur Road, Whitehall Township.

The incident has been ruled a homicide.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the incident is being investigated by the Whitehall Township Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday
