Fire companies from numerous Schuylkill County communities responded Friday afternoon to a working structure fire in the village of Cumbola. Around 1 p.m., passing motorists traveling Market Street (Route 209) spotted smoke coming from the second floor of a two and one-half story, wood frame home. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported a working structure fire. The family managed to escape the flames but numerous cats and dogs were unaccounted for. It appears the home is a total loss.
