After working for years to get the funds to reconstruct the new truck escape ramp on State Route 93 (Broad Mountain), State Rep. Keith McCall ( (D-Carbon), the Democratic Caucus Majority Whip, stood at the site in Nesquehoning to declare it open for use.

McCall was instrumental in securing over $960,000 for the project through state and federal grants he worked on.

The revamping of the 32-year-old ramp was done by J.S. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA.

The new ramp replaces a smaller one that was built in 1975. It features a wider roadway to access it, a gravel drainage bed, a 25-foot-wide gravel arrestor bed and a 10-foot-wide service road.
