Panther Valley remained undefeated to start the season by rolling past Salem Christian on Tuesday.
The Pleasant Valley boys opened their season with a win, while the Northwestern girls edged Northern Lehigh in a key Colonial League matchup.
Elsewhere, the Tamaqua swimmers swept past Mahanoy Area.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Panther Vy.-Salem Christian
Panther Valley won its third straight game to start the season, overwhelming Salem Christian 76-43.
Brady Jones scored all 13 of his points in the first half as the Panthers built a 17-point halftime lead, while Danny Wehr tallied all of his 12 points in the third quarter as PV expanded the margin to 28.
Connor Penberth finished with a game-high 18 points for the winners. Logan Fisher also tallied 13 as Panther Valley had four players end in double figures.
For the Eagles, Caleb Marks posted a team-high 14 points.

Pleasant Valley jumped out to a double-digit halftime lead and held on for a 48-42 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory in its season opener.
Zach Prator scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the opening half as the Bears gained a 24-14 advantage at the break.
Sebastian Sacci helped PV maintain its lead, netting 12 of his 14 points over the final two quarters.
For the Timberwolves, Ozias Washington tallied a team-high 10 points.

Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead and used a balanced scoring attack to gain a 64-44 Colonial League victory over host Jim Thorpe.
Carmine Diaz, Justin Manning and Cody Driscoll all scored eight points in the first half as the Crusaders opened up a 20-point halftime advantage.
Diaz finished with a team-high 15 points, while Manning finished with 13 and Driscoll ended with 10.
The Olympians, playing in their season opener, received a game-high 16 points from Pierce Gothard. Brody Schrantz chipped in with eight.

Cara Thomas poured in a game-high 25 points as Northwestern edged Northern Lehigh 64-59 in an early season Colonial League showdown.
The Tigers, who also received 12 points from Brook Balliet and 11 from Natalie Conner, outscored their opponent 35-24 in the middle frames to help pull out the win.
Katelynn Barthold scored a team-high 23 points for the Bulldogs, while Teegan Simms added 16. Dakota Barthold also chipped in with 12.

Tamaqua registered a sweep of Mahanoy Area in Schuylkill League action.
The Raider boys cruised to an 85-8 win, while the Tamaqua girls posted a commanding 109-42 victory.
Ava Jones (50 free, 100 free) and Savannah Wilson (100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke) both won a pair of individual events and also swam a leg on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay races.
Logan Morgans (200 free, 500 free) and Jacob Hehn (50 free, 100 free) equaled the performances of Jones and Wilson, winning two individual races and swimming a leg on a pair of first-place relay teams.

Lydia Strucko earned multiple first-place finishes for Marian, touching the wall first in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, while also swimming a leg on the winning 400 freestyle relay.
Zoe Katona added a first in the 200 freestyle and swam a leg on the 400 freestyle relay team.
