Carbon Man charged with burglarizing home

A Beaver Meadows man has been charged with burglarizing a residence.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper David Dewitt of the Pennsylvania State Police, Hazleton barracks, in the case against Fred Bobal Jr.:

At around 5:24 p.m. Nov. 16, Dewitt responded to Beaver Meadows. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim, who related that she was inside her residence when she heard glass break at the rear of the residence.

She identified the actor as Bobal, 61, who has never lived at the address, does not receive mail at the address and does not have any personal belongings in the residence.

Dewitt then spoke with a man who said he received a call from the victim regarding the incident who arrived at the residence and Bobal was inside, now refusing to exit the residence.

Dewitt approached the rear of the residence and observed the back door had a smashed window.

Dewitt then saw Bobal inside the residence.

The suspect refused to exit when given verbal commands.

Entry was made into the residence and Bobal was taken into custody.

Dewitt spoke with Carbon County Assistant District Attorney Joseph Perilli, who approved the charges.

Bobal faces charges on two counts of criminal trespass, and one count each of burglary and criminal mischief.

Bobal is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Dec. 18 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
