Woman dies in Thanksgiving crash

A 65-year-old woman from Scranton died in a two-vehicle crash at 1:01 p.m. Thanksgiving Day on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

State police at the Pocono barracks said Veronica M. Robinson, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead by the Luzerne County coroner.

Police said the drivers of the vehicles, Leslie M. Horoshko, 82, of Dallas, and Tatiana N. Robinson, 31, of Scranton, were transported by emergency personnel to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.

They said Tatiana Robinson sustained suspected serious injuries, while the severity of Horoshko’s injuries is unknown.

Police said the crash occurred at the southbound deceleration ramp of the Wilkes-Barre Interchange when Horoshko, driving a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, entered the southbound lane but traveled north, striking a 2009 Nissan Altima driven by Tatiana Robinson.

Police said Horoshko was cited for “one way roadways and rotary traffic islands” violations, while Tatiana Robinson was cited for driving while her license was suspended or revoked.
