Christmas pageant

St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, is having its annual Christmas pageant during the church service on Dec. 15. Then it hopes to present it (sshhh, don’t tell) somewhere else nearby.

All that is needed are the children and baby Jesus. Practices are set for 9 a.m. Sunday, during church, and from 6-8 p.m. during Family, Faith and Fun Night on Friday, Dec. 6.

For more information, keep reading the Wednesday WE News column.

Special event

Operation: Touch of Home is asking people to save the date of Dec. 15, because that is when the Kindred family has designated the group as the respective nonprofit all-volunteer organization of choice for this year’s Christmas lights event. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off when people drive by or stop in to see the lights.

Santa will be there as well, with cookies and hot chocolate.

The location is 137 Pleasant Lane, Brodheadsville, off Route 115, second right.

Follow the star is the suggestion.

Grant deadline

The grants are available to any Pennsylvania municipal entity, county or registered nonprofit organization to be used toward programming, projects or events that focus on education, preservation, innovation and celebration of the semiquincentennial. The grants require an equal match from the recipient.

The deadline to apply for the first round of grants is Dec. 15. A second round will be held in the spring.
