State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Stephen M. Carroll, 26, of Tamaqua, was involved after a one-vehicle crash at 12:42 p.m. Nov. 22 on Interstate 81 in Butler Township.
Police said he did not require a medical transport from the scene.
Carroll was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla northbound on the slushy roadway when he lost control of the car, police said. It veered off the highway and flipped onto its roof, coming to rest on the east shoulder of the road.
Police said Carroll was cited after the crash.
• Marcos Miranda, 72, of Tamaqua, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 6:12 p.m. Nov. 23 on Route 209 in Schuylkill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Dodge Journey eastbound when it crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a 2011 Subaru Forester driven west by Kaitlyn S. Clarkson, 33, of Bath.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Neither driver, nor Marissa O. Saunders, 32, of Tamaqua, a passenger with Clarkson, were hurt, police said.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:01 a.m. Nov. 11 on Route 61 (South Lehigh Drive) in West Mahanoy Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Johnna M. McHugh, 61, of Tamaqua, driving a 2017 Jeep, attempted to make a left turn onto Voteal Road and was struck by a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer driven southbound by Bruce A. Lindenmuth, 19, of Ringtown.
McHugh was unable to avoid being struck by the Lancer, police said, because it was traveling at a high rate of speed with its headlights off in dark/foggy conditions.
Lindenmuth fled the scene by traveling south on Interstate 81 but was found the following day in Ringtown, according to police.
He was cited as a result, police said.
The Jeep was driven from the scene.
In addition to both drivers escaping injuries, a passenger with McHugh, Michele Calkins, 59, of Tamaqua, was uninjured, police said.
• No one was injured and two drivers were cited after a crash at 6:42 p.m. Nov. 24 on Hazel Street in Delano Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Noraida Navarro, 35, of Brooklyn, New York, was driving a 2025 Nissan Sentra eastbound when it veered off the road and hit a cement railroad underpass before traveling back onto the eastbound lane and striking the right rear quarter panel of a 2015 Chevrolet Trax operated by Juan Plasencia-Rodriguez, 52, of Mahanoy City.
Police said the Sentra was towed but the Trax could be driven from the scene.
Navarro was cited for leaving the roadway, while Plasencia-Rodriguez was cited for following too closely, according to police.
