Dear Editor,
The front-page headline in Monday’s print edition read, “Pl. Valley superintendent resigns.” But, according to the article that followed, that’s hardly the whole truth; it’s not even close.
The headline should have read, “Pleasant Valley superintendent, in collaboration with the school district Board of Directors, attempts to game the system at the expense of every property-owning taxpayer.”
Just when you think the Pleasant Valley School Board has reached its zenith of wasteful spending, the Board takes another brazen — and public — step to fleece its taxpayers out of yet more money. And this time, the school board is a willing co-conspirator in a questionable scheme designed to substantially enrich just one person … the superintendent.
The School Board has violated its fiduciary responsibility to the district taxpayers and has proven again that money, our tax money, is no obstacle when making decisions that suit the Board alone.
The School Board should accept James Konrad’s unconditional resignation, now, and let him move on to more fertile pastures. Those Board members who promoted or voted for this blatant hustle should do the honorable thing and submit their own resignations, now.
