Letter to the editor: Justice System in America?
Whatever happened to our justice system in America? It seems like the victim of a crime today, has less rights than the criminal.
Let’s consider the case of this horrendous murder of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old college student. She was savagely and brutally murdered by a criminal illegal migrant in Georgia. He was found to be a member of a notorious Venezuelan gang. He was in our country illegally and may have murdered other women in his own country.
This migrant criminal is now on trial, and with all of the evidence proving he is guilty in the murder of this young woman. The liberal judge has taken the death penalty off the table. The worst this migrant murderer can receive for punishment is life in prison, paid for by our tax dollars!
How does an illegal immigrant, a criminal and not an American citizen have any rights at all?
While at the same time in New York City, there is a combat Marine veteran on trial, who could get up to 19 years in prison. He took it on himself in saving subway passengers from being seriously injured, or even killed by a homeless, raging maniac. As the Marine restrained this out of control, lunatic, he happened to die. He was found to be full of drugs, with a long criminal record, and now this Marine hero is made out to be the villain!
Do you really think anyone like this brave Marine, riding on the subway in New York City, will ever try to help anyone from being assaulted again? How has our judicial system in America gone from hanging a horse thief in the town square?
In allowing an illegal immigrant and murderer to be provided a life in prison, funded by us taxpayers. In our early American colonial days, there was no such thing as a long prison term, you were either severely punished physically upon conviction or hanged by the neck until dead! Bring back the good old days, when America was a country of “Law and Order!”
