TASB allows land bank to take properties

The Tamaqua Area School Board on Tuesday moved ahead with allowing the Schuylkill County Land Bank to acquire three properties in Tamaqua.

The land bank will purchase the properties at 401 and 423 Willing St., and 200 Pitt St. at $100 each with a trump bid at the December 2024 Judicial Sale.

Solicitor Erik Helbing had said that the properties would not sell otherwise, as the liens against them are worth more than parcels.

The board consented to the purchase in the hopes of getting properties back on the tax rolls.
