George Taylor, New Media coordinator for the Times News, was honored by the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., being one of six individuals to receive the Pioneer Award from the National Scholastic Press Association.

The award honors recipients for their continuous contributions to scholastic journalism.

Before joining the Times News, Taylor advised the national award-winning Blue and White student newspaper at Tamaqua Area High School. In 1985, he was named the Dow Jones National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year.

He has been a member of the Pennsylvania Scholastic Press Association’s executive board since 1982.
