November 27, 1971 — Greg Smale and Gene Roberts both score a pair of touchdowns to lead Palmerton to a 27-0 victory over Slatington. The contest, originally scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, is played two days later because of an earlier snow storm. The Blue Bombers, behind their defensive front of Ken Kasick, Ron Haydt, Dale Walck, Ed Garcia and Mike Steigerwalt, hold the Bulldogs to just 42 yards of offense. Smale opens the scoring with a 6-yard run in the first quarter. The winners, coached by Tom Wargo, extend their lead in the second on a 3-yard tally by Roberts, who also scores from two yards out in the third frame. Smale seals the contest with a 4-yard TD run in the final period.
