November 26, 1953 — Coaldale rallies from an early deficit to upset Lansford 14-9 in their Thanksgiving Day contest before an estimated crowd of 5,000. After the Panthers recover a fumble at the Tiger 3-yard line in the first quarter, Mike Midas eventually crashes into the end zone from a yard out for an early advantage. But Coaldale, coached by Tom Raymer after head coach Andy Kalen misses the game due to illness, battles back with TDs in the second and third quarters. Pete Julo completes a 59-yard, game-tying drive with a 7-yard scoring run right before the first half ends. The go-ahead and winning tally comes in the third via an 84-yard march which is completed with a 22-yard scoring toss from Julo to Norm Unitis.
