Tamaqua approves 30-day burning ban

Tamaqua Borough Council instituted a ban on open burning, effective immediately.

The ban includes open burning of any combustible material outdoors in a fire ring, fire pit or on the ground. This includes the burning of garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, litter, paper and vegetation.

The use of propane or gas stoves or charcoal briquette grills is not covered under the ban.

Borough residents are encouraged to responsibly dispose of cigarettes and related products to minimize the risk of fire.

The moratorium on open burning remains in place for 30 days.
