Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Nov. 14 with 27 members present. The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “How Blessed We Truly Are.”
President Jean Machamer celebrated her 91st birthday. Her daughter, Debbie Brennan, brought cupcakes for everyone, and Machamer treated members to peanut butter club sandwiches.
Belated Halloween treats were given by a member.
On Dec. 5, there will be an exchange with your friends party, not a Christmas Chinese Auction as was recently reported.
Bingo and cards were played. It was noted that if school is canceled because of the weather, the group will not have a meeting. Members will not be called.
Calvary Lewistown
The 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical is the harvest home gathering of food to be presented to Pastor Kim Leskovich and her husband, Scott, to celebrate God’s blessing of harvest and thankfulness. Special music and message will be presented by Pastor Kim, with the soloist accompanied by Beverly Heisler. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m., and the evening service is at 6:30 p.m.
There will be no prayer meeting on Nov. 27.
A Thanksgiving morning service will be held at 8 a.m. Nov. 28 at Zion Church, Valley Road, Lewistown Valley. Pastor Kim will be the speaker of this New Ringgold Ministerium service.
The annual Calvary Christmas dinner and party will be held following the Dec. 8 service. Call Sue at 570-668-3359 to register and see what you can bring.
The 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15 service will have the annual Sunday school Christmas program. At 3 p.m. Dec. 15, there will be a combined musical Christmas presentation under the direction of Brenda Reed.
On Dec. 19, there will be a 6:30 p.m. Christmas candlelight service featuring Allie Wommer as soloist and message by Pastor Kim.
St. Peter’s — West Penn
The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will include Women’s Association of St. Peter’s white gifts. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.; Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m., and the Thanksgiving service at Dinkey Memorial Church is at 7 p.m.
Filling orders may be picked up from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 26.
The Dec. 1 worship service is the First Sunday of Advent and will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
