“Blessings of the Seasons,” a benefit concert for the 50th Anniversary of the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 319 South Ave. Jim Thorpe.
Maestro Randall D. Perry of the Bach and Handel Chorale will present the prelude from 2:30 until 3 p.m. and will also accompany soprano Claudia Handlovic.
The BQE Strings, a professional string quartet from New York City, will play a range of music from the classics to contemporary.
A few of the selections, “For Unto Us The Child is Born from The Messiah,” “Sleepers Wake” from Cantata BWV 140- JS Bach; “Lord’s Prayer” by A.J. Malotte, “The Kiss” from “The Last of the Mohicans,” a Stars Wars medley arranged by J. Williams/A. Yee, “The Long and Winding Road” by J. Lennon and P. McCartney and more.
All proceeds will be directed to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.
The church youth and confirmation class will be hold a Sweet Treats sale and all their proceeds will be given to World Hunger.
