A former Tamaqua man faces insurance fraud and other charges filed against him Nov. 13 by the state Attorney General’s Office.
Charges against Frank T. Jimenez-Araujo, 32, whose last known address is Elm Street, stem from March of 2023 when agents said he filed a false claim with National General Insurance.
Agents said Jimenez told insurers that he had just struck a deer with his car in New Tripoli. After the car was inspected, it was determined that the damage occurred before that date. Jimenez then changed his story, saying it happed two to three weeks before that. His claim was then referred to insurance company’s investigators for discrepancy in facts of loss.
Several other misrepresentations were made by Jimenez, including submission of two fake receipts from Felix Auto Body, agents said.
Agents say Jimenez attempted to have National General pay an insurance claim for which they were not liable.
Total costs per parts and labor, minus the $1,000 deductible, was $4,505.
He also faces charges of criminal attempt theft by deception and forgery. He was arraigned before Tamaqua Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
