Turnpike incidents
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following incidents that happened on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Shari L. Beers, 52, of Jim Thorpe, was injured in a crash at 5:42 p.m. Nov. 12 at mile marker 69.5 in Washington Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Northampton Fire Department to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
Police said she was driving a 2016 Jeep Renegade northbound when it struck a large metal object that was lying in the middle of the roadway.
• John Robbins, 60, of Nescopeck, is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 8:31 a./m. Nov. 14 at mile marker 65.9 in Washington Township.
Police said he was driving a 2005 Audi 8 that they stopped for having an expired registration. They discovered the vehicle displayed fake annual and emission stickers. They also found the driver to be in possession of marijuana.
In addition to being charged with possession of a controlled substance, Robbins was also found to be driving while his license is suspended.
• The operator of a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer that police stopped at mile marker 68.4 in Washington Township at 1:16 p.m. Nov. 16 is facing charges.
Police did not identify the driver but said the vehicle was stopped for having an expired registration. Police learned the vehicle displayed fraudulent annual and emission stickers.
* Nicholas McDermott, 31, of Throop, is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 8:10 p.m. Nov. 13.
He was stopped in a 2007 Hyundai Sonata for having an expired registration at mile marker 68.2 in Washington Township. During a search of the vehicle, police seized marijuana.
