State police at Bethlehem
State police at Bethlehem reported on the following incidents:
• A 77-year-old Slatington woman reported a theft by deception incident at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 15 at a property on Kirk Street, North Whitehall Township.
Police said she paid someone $246.66 to process a refund for merchandise she never purchased.
The woman received a refund by the bank so did not sustain a monetary loss.
• A 62-year-old Allentown woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said she was driving a 2019 Subaru Outback while ordering and paying for food at McDonald’s, Route 873, North Whitehall Township, when she was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred at 7:54 p.m. Oct. 15, police said.
• Police were called to a criminal mischief incident at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 on Rockdale Road, North Whitehall Township.
A 49-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, both from Slatington, reported their mailboxes were smashed with pumpkins.
• Police were called to a defiant trespassing case at 1:37 p.m. Nov. 7 on Main Street, Washington Township.
Police said someone was advised against trespassing on Nov. 6 by both state police and the township administration and was then told at 7 a.m. Nov. 7 to leave the premises.
After the person did not leave the premises, police were summoned. Police said the man then agreed to leave the premises and remove his belongings from the property. State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incident:
• Henry McCance, 53, of Slatington, is facing charges of aggravated assault and simple assault after police responded to a fight involving two men at 2:09 p.m. Nov. 5 on the area of Route 145 and the Route 22 off ramp in Whitehall.
Police said upon arrival they found a 67-year-old man laying on the ground with a cut near his left eye. They said witnesses told them a white men punched the victim three times in the head/face, causing him to fall backwards, strike his head off the roadway and lose consciousness. The witnesses told police the assailant fled the scene towards the Home Depot store.
They said McCance was located about 20 minutes later in the area of the 500 block of Mickley Road, where he was taken into custody.
Police said a follow-up at the hospital resulted in them learning the victim suffered a fractured bone in his eye and a brain bleed as a result of the assault.
