Eighteen years of service as a Jim Thorpe Area School District director, during which time he established a perfect record of attendance at board and committee meetings, were formally recognized Monday night as George Marzen completed his long and enviable tenure in that capacity.

He was accorded a standing vote of thanks from his colleagues and school district administrative staff members following last night’s monthly meeting of the directorate.

In praising Marzen, Chairman John Gunsser noted the departing director “never missed any function called by the district and which was important to it, and I just don’t now how anybody can follow that kind of record.”
