In honor of Veterans Day, Craig Strohl, sergeant 1st class in the U.S. Army, and Brad Jones, retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, both from Summit Hill, visited students in the after-school SHINE program at Panther Valley Elementary School in Lansford on Nov. 11.
Jones talked with the students about his job in the Air Force and what it’s like to be a veteran.
Strohl related to the students that he also attended Panther Valley schools and entered the military right after graduation.
Strohl stressed the importance of working hard in school, and trying your best.
“Always work hard and do the right thing, even when no one is looking,” Strohl told them.
He also told the students that, as an adult, he continues to go to school to further his education.
The students had a lot of questions for Jones and Strohl, including many about their service.
“This definitely was a great experience for our students, one they will not forget,” said Carly Romankow from the Panther Valley SHINE program.
