Penn Forest approves trash contract

The Penn Forest Township Board of Supervisors signed a five-year contract with Waste Management for collection and disposal of solid waste.

Bids from Waste Management were $423,384.72 for three years, $642,219.44 for four years and $836,108.23 for five years.

This is a $167,143 increase since the last contract. Permit fees will remain at $150.

There was discussion about payment plans for permits and possible fees associated with such plans. Ultimately, it was decided that there was not enough manpower to track fees and collections; however, any resident experiencing difficulty paying was advised to talk to township personnel.
