Carbon County officials are continuing to put a spotlight on opioid addiction in the hope of combating the epidemic.
Last week, the county’s newest advertising campaign on raising awareness in the fight against drugs was launched.
Commissioner Rocky Ahner said that the county created two commercials that will be seen on various stations, including TV-13, WFMZ and WNEP, as well as 27 other networks through March 25. Notable programs the commercials will air include during “The Today Show,” “Monday Night Football,” “Live with Kelly and Mark” and the National Championship college football game.
The commercials talk about how addiction affects everyone and how recovery is possible with the right support network.
Carbon County has partnered with neighboring Monroe and Pike counties in this campaign as part of the opioid funds the counties are receiving from the court settlement.
“The counties intent is to reach out to all age groups to get the word out ‘Recovery is Possible’ and there are avenues of help for you as well as others,” Ahner said regarding the campaign.
In addition to television, print ads will be published in newspapers, there will be billboards and also voice commercials on radio.
This is the second ad campaign the county has worked on, last year earmarking $200,000 of the $4.5 million settlement for that campaign.
