TURNPIKE CRASHES

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• A camper that was being towed by a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck overturned at 5:05 p.m. Nov. 1 at mile marker 81.2 in Penn Forest Township.

Police did not identify the driver but said the truck was southbound and negotiating a right curve in the road when the camper went onto the rumble strips and began to fishtail.

The camper then went up an embankment, reentered the roadway, jackknifed and overturned.

Police said the camper was towed from the scene, while the pickup was able to be driven away.

The driver was uninjured.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:01 p.m. Oct. 28 at mile marker 88.6 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said the crash occurred when a 2009 Ford Taurus operated by Corey T. Jenkins, 25, of Pennsauken Township, New Jersey, and a 2024 Volvo driven by Jean C. Hernandez-Pena, 38, of Reading, hit each other while the Volvo was merging onto the left lane occupied by the Taurus.

• Cody J. Estremera, 32, of Summit Hill, was uninjured when a 2023 Ford Transit Connect he was driving struck a deer at mile marker 60.3 southbound in South Whitehall Township.

It occurred at 5:15 a.m. Oct. 21 when the deer ran onto the roadway and Estremera was unable to stop.

His vehicle had to be towed from the scene, police said.
