Lansford Borough plans annual tree decorating
Friends of Lansford Recreation and Lansford Alive teamed up to host the fourth annual Tree Decoration and Tree Lighting with a visit from Santa to be held on Dec. 1.
Fifty trees purchased by individuals and groups will line the Patterson Street side of Kennedy Park, and memorial and honor trees will surround the park’s gazebo, said Lansford council member Gwyneth Collevechio.
The recreation group will provide the extension cords, tree stands and power for the trees. Each individual or group will be assigned a specific tree and cannot alter the placement.
Those purchasing trees must provide all of the ornaments, tinsel, garland, etc. and are limited to 500 LED lights in white, solid or multicolored strands, but all themes and decorating schemes are welcome.
No glass, breakable or vulgar, derogatory, racially insensitive or sexually explicit decorations are permitted.
Participants are also asked to secure all decorations to the tree with green pipe cleaners, as the trees will be exposed to the elements. Paper decorations should be laminated.
Decorating will begin Nov. 26 to allow for school groups to participate. Decorating normally starts on the Friday before the tree lighting, but with the Thanksgiving holiday, decorating days are being extended, Collevechio said. Tree decorating will be permitted during the day on Nov. 27, 29 and 30, and concluded at 2 p.m. Dec. 1.
A program with music, food, the tree lighting and Santa visit will follow the last of the decorating on Dec. 1 in the park. The rain date is Dec. 8. Delacruz Delites and Kitty Kat Concessions will be on hand.
