Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a state police vehicle at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 6 at mile marker 84.6 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Charles F. Bray Jr., 82, of Wapwallopen, driving a 2022 Ford Explorer, approached an active work zone in which the left travel lane was closed.

Bray came upon a commercial vehicle and attempted to apply his brakes, at which time his foot slipped, police said. The Explorer traveled onto the west shoulder to avoid hitting the commercial vehicle but struck the state police vehicle, a 2022 Dodge Charger that was on the west shoulder with its lights activated, police said. It was operated by Michael R. Riccardella, 48, of White Haven.

Police said neither vehicle required towing.

• Daniel A. Halvorsen, 35, of Conshohocken, was uninjured when a car he was driving struck a deer at mile marker 75 in Parryville.

Police said he was operating a 2022 Tesla northbound at 6:43 a.m. Nov. 9 when he crash occurred.

The car sustained disabling damage and had to be towed, police said.

• Allison M. Severino, 55, of Lehighton, was uninjured when the 2020 Mazda she was driving struck a deer at 5:05 a.m. Nov. 3 at mile marker 63.5 in North Whitehall Township.

Police said she was southbound when the deer ran into the travel lane and was hit.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
