Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Nov. 7 with 27 members present.

The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “God Will Be Your Friend.”

Two members were added to the sick list. One member donated money to the club. Refreshments were served.

Four members are celebrating birthdays this month.

On a majority vote of members, President Jean Machamer will be getting gift certificates from businesses in Tamaqua for the group’s Christmas Chinese auction. Also, on Dec. 12 there will be a drawing of certificates. On Dec. 19, the group will buy Christmas houses to put money and candy in. Bags of candy were distributed by the secretary and given to each member. Bingo and cards were played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will bring the message of gift giving at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in the Lewistown Valley. There will be a prayer of blessings for more than 34 shoe box gifts for the Samaritan’s Purse Ministry. Special music will be provided.

Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. and the 6:30 p.m. service will feature singing and sharing. All are welcome.

The 10:30 a.m. Nov. 24 service will be the annual harvest home service with non-perishable or fresh fruits and vegetables presented to Pastor Kim and her husband, Scott.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have a Thankoffering and White Gifts offering. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m., and a board meeting follows at 10:30 a.m. Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.

WASP meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

On Nov. 21, apple dumpling pickup is between 1 and 5 p.m., the Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m., and the Senior Choir meets at 7 p.m.

On Nov. 24, there will be a Thanksgiving service at Dinkey Memorial Church in addition to the 9 a.m. morning worship at St. Peter’s.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

“The Chosen” will be shown in the Adult Sunday school room at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Rush Ryan Delano Seniors

The Rush Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on Nov. 12 with 43 members present.

The president opened the meeting with the invocation, “Let Freedom Ring.”

The secretary and treasurer’s report were read and accepted by President Robert Neifert. Refreshments were served.

One member was welcomed back. Five members will celebrate birthdays this month. One member won a pumpkin light that was chanced off and another won a floral arrangement.

The Nov. 19 casino trip has been canceled.

There will be a trip to Hershey on Dec. 3 to see Sweet Lights. The bus will leave at 5 p.m. Original plans were to stop at Red Robin for a meal but plans are to now have a box lunch and drink on the bus.

The Christmas party will be held starting at noon on Dec. 10 at Capriotti’s in McAdoo.

The meeting closed and bingo was played. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 26. The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Christ Church in Barnesville. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
