A local business has donated food and personal care items to the Palmerton Food Pantry.

Palmerton Lumber Company employees and customers collected the items in a food drive. The items were collected last month.

A total of 1,191 items were collected, according to Susie Arner, who is co-director of the Palmerton Food Pantry along with John DeSousa.

“Many thanks to every individual who supported Palmerton Lumber in their efforts to support the pantry,” Arner said. “Small businesses wishing to support the pantry, we welcome you no matter how large or small the business or the donation we are very grateful.

“Palmerton Lumber, we say many thanks on behalf of those who use the services of the pantry.”

Community members wishing to make a holiday donation to the Palmerton Food Pantry may mail contributions to CACPAC Palmerton Food Pantry, P.O. Box 213, Aquashicola, PA 18012.

The pantry’s remaining schedule for 2024 is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 20.

The pantry’s schedule for 2025 is as follows:

• 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 11, Jan. 24, Feb. 8, Feb. 28, March 8, March 28, April 12, April 25, May 10, May 23, June 14, June 27, July 12, July 25, Aug. 9, Aug. 22, Sept. 13, Sept. 26, Oct. 11, Oct. 24, Nov. 8, Nov. 21 (this date is being used to give food before Thanksgiving), Dec. 19 (this is the only scheduled December date due to the holidays).

The Palmerton Food Pantry is located at 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
