Summit Hill police

Summit Hill Police Chief Todd Woodward reported the following incidents that happened in the borough:

• Jarett Sweeney, 42, of Summit Hill, was arrested by police on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol (refusal), reckless driving and restrictions on alcoholic beverages after an incident on Oct. 11.

Police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle driving with a flat tire which was on fire and stopped Sweeney in the 100 block of East Holland Street. They said the officer detected signs of extreme intoxication from Sweeney and found an open container of beer inside the vehicle.

• Zachary Lienhard, 34, of Summit Hill, is facing charges of reckless driving and careless driving after an incident on Oct. 15 in Ludlow Park.

Police said they were dispatched for a report of a vehicle driving through the park, which is a pedestrian area off limits to vehicles. A witness told police they observed a vehicle driving in the 100 block of West Ludlow Street when it crossed into the park, continued driving through it and exited on Ludlow Street.

Police said the vehicle and driver were located, after which time Lienhard admitted to the offense.

• Janelle Bassetti, 37, of Summit Hill, is facing drug-use and public intoxication charges following an incident at 5:49 a.m. Oct. 23 in the area of 128 W. Hazard St., Summit Hill.

Police said they were dispatched to the area for a report of a female yelling loudly and banging on an occupied parked vehicle. The witness told police the woman who was not known to him was preventing him from driving the vehicle.

Police said after a search of the area, Bassetti was located after she jumped in front of a moving police vehicle and began yelling and banging on the vehicle.

She was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Carbon Campus, Mahoning Township, police said.
