Lehighton Borough Council took the following action recently:
• Approved payment certificate No. 1 to Advanced Pipe Technologies in the amount of $22,483.
• Approved a pump quote for the Annex building from Mek-Tek HVAC in the amount of $10,950.
• Approved up to $9,000 on sidewalk repair around the Rec Center and Grove Park.
• Approved repairs on International Dump Truck from Lowe and Moyer Garage in the amount of $7,880.
• Accepted the resignation of Gordon Ripkey from the Lehighton Water Authority.
• Agreed to vacate Penn Avenue, part of Graver Street, and surrounding alleys. • Agreed to advertise a petition to vacate an unnamed alley that runs between Eighth Street and Queen Alley.
• Adopted a resolution appointing System Design Engineering’s revised list of sewage enforcement officers.
• Approved the Lehighton Downtown Initiative’s request to host holiday decorating contest for businesses and provide prizes of $100 off winners’ electric bills.
• Announced that borough council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18.
• Approved a request for the 54th annual Halloween parade on Oct. 18, 2025, with a rain date of Oct. 19, 2025.
• Announced the ninth annual Christmas tree Lighting will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 8, and that there are several open seats on the borough’s Parks and Recreation Board. They are accepting volunteers for Christmas in the Park.
