Lansford Borough Council expects to see progress on Community Development Block Grant projects to raze several houses.
Council President Bruce Markovich said that he and Solicitor Bob Yurchak and ARRO Consulting, the borough engineer, met with county officials on Oct. 31 to discuss the projects.
The county, which administers the CDBG program and projects, still has some paperwork to complete, he said.
ARRO will be issuing tear down notices to the owners of 316 W. Patterson and 334 W. Bertsch streets, and the borough has a court order for 151-151½ W. Ridge St., he said.
“The tear down order will take effect in 30 days,” Markovich said. “That will give the county time to get their paperwork done. At that point, they expect to have these out to bid.”
Work is almost complete on another CDBG project, the Brimble Wall project and street reconstruction. The borough used its CDBG funds along with a $313,000 state Multimodal Transportation grant to cover the $384,000 cost of the project.
The borough is also using about $78,000 in CDBG funds for the demolition of 118 W. Ridge St., a building which partially collapsed into a vacant lot earlier this year. The borough is also using pandemic relief funding to cover any additional costs.
The owner of 118 W. Ridge St. did receive more than $4,000 in fines and costs from the magistrate for the condition of property last month.
