The operator of the largest indoor lettuce farm in the world was awarded $1.5 million to construct a new greenhouse at its facility in Banks Township, just outside of McAdoo.
Little Leaf Farms also received funds as part of $2.5 million in state grants after state Sen. David Argall, R-29, and state Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-122, worked with local leaders to secure this funding.
“Additionally, Little Leaf Farms, the world’s largest indoor lettuce producer, will create hundreds of valuable jobs as a result of this support,” Heffley said. “Together, these initiatives promise to have a lasting positive impact on public safety and economic growth.”
Little Leaf Farms plan six greenhouses at the location, which will create at least 300 jobs.
Three are now in operation, with a fourth breaking ground soon.
Funding was awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which awards grants to economic development projects that have a regional impact.
