A 52-year-old former Lansford woman died in a residential fire Nov. 1, in her residence in Laureldale, Berks County.
Amy L. Valentine, daughter of Mary Ellen (Stanziola) Kleckner of Lansford and the late Wallace Kleckner and a 1989 graduate of Panther Valley High School, died of smoke inhalation and thermal burns, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.
She was pronounced dead at the scene in the 3400 block of Kutztown Road at 9:10 a.m. by Berks County Deputy Coroner Sarah Shivers.
Firefighters were first called to the home about 7:20 a.m., when it was believed multiple people were trapped in the home.
Officials said police officers and firefighters reported the two-story house was fully aflame, according to WFMZ television. The news provider reported bystanders informed emergency responders one person was still believed to be inside, and they had been trying unsuccessfully to get that person out.
After the fire was knocked down, it was reported one person had died as a result of the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state police fire marshal’s office.
Valentine’s obituary appears on page 4 in today’s edition.
