Tamaqua man gets jail in child luring attempt

A Tamaqua man who attempted to lure a child into his vehicle and exposed himself to her in March in Lynn Township has been sentenced to jail, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

Blaine Alan Arner, 63, pleaded guilty on July 29 to charges of luring a child into a motor vehicle, a second degree felony; and four counts each of indecent exposure.

Arner was sentenced to 7 ½ to 15 years in prison after Thursday hearing before Judge James T. Anthony.

Arner must also register for life as a sexually-violent predator, and upon his release, he must serve 15 years of probation.

The charges stem from a 4:40 p.m. March 11 incident when Pennsylvania State Police were called to the 7300 block of Lincoln Court for a report of indecent exposure.

Troopers learned a man, later identified as Arner, exposed himself to a 9 year-old girl who was walking her dogs with three other children.

The girl told police that the man stopped his truck on the side of the road and asked her if she wanted to see her dog.

When she approached the truck, he opened the driver’s side front door of the truck and exposed himself. The girl ran away.

The case was investigated by state police, West Penn Township police and Senior Deputy District Attorney Sarah K. Heimbach.
