TURNPIKE CRASHES

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Madison M. Ratchford, 19, of Wyoming, and a passenger in her vehicle were not injured when the car they were in struck a deer at 5:46 p.m. Nov. 3 at mile marker 68 in Washington Township.

Police said the 2017 Hyundai Elantra was northbound when it hit the deer, which was in the right lane of traffic.

• A 24-year-old man from Sellersville is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a crash at 2:24 a.m. Oct. 27 at the 987 slip ramp of the turnpike in Penn Forest Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2019 Subaru Impreza northbound when he lost control on the ramp and hit the guide rail. The car had disabling front-end damage, police said.

• No one was injured in a crash at 10 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Mahoning Valley Interchange in Franklin Township.

Police said it occurred when Gulom Isakov, 35, of Arnold, driving a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, stopped the vehicle on the southbound ramp and backed up, striking a 2022 Kia Soul driven by Jacob W. Smith, 24, of Kutztown.

• Karlvin Stephen, 26 of Philadelphia, escaped injuries when a car he was driving struck a deer at 9:55 p.m. Oct. 27 at mile marker 89.4 in Kidder Township. The deer jumped over the center barrier into the southbound lanes and was struck by the 2021 Honda Civic. The car was towed from the scene.

Police said Stephen was cited for driving a vehicle with an expired registration.
