November 6, 1979 — Kory Bates collects 111 yards on 24 carries and scores a touchdown to help Marian gain a 14-7 victory over Cardinal Brennan. The Colts, coached by Stan Dick (Dakosty), trail in the contest before a long drive gives them the lead late in the first half. Mike Tracy rips off a 31-yard run, while Mark Stelmack adds a 19-yard gain and throws a 16-yard pass to Sam Cusanelli to key a 74-yard scoring march. Tracy, who ends the contest with 95 yards rushing, goes the final six and adds a two-point conversion to put Marian on top. The winners add an insurance tally in the final frame on a Bates 3-yard TD run. Defensively, the Colts receive a forced fumble and two recoveries from Chuck Tinninis.
