The Schuylkill County Historical Society is presenting its annual tree-decorating contest with entries from various local historical societies and other nonprofit organizations. Votes from visitors will determine the winner.

The trees will be on display at the Society at 305 N. Centre St., Pottsville, beginning on Friday, Nov. 8.

Visitors can vote as many times as they want for their favorite tree through Friday, Jan. 10. Each vote costs $1, and each participating organization will receive the proceeds from its tree’s votes.

The Society is also seeking Schuylkill County-oriented memorabilia for its own tree.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and in November and December, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. (There will be special hours of noon to 6 p.m. on Dec. 7 for the Pottsville Business Association’s Cookie and Cocktail Crawl.)
