Tamaqua police cite Coaldale woman

Tamaqua police cited a Coaldale woman for public drunkenness and similar misconduct following an Oct. 23 incident outside a Center Street store.

Police said officers were sent to a 5:23 p.m. report of a woman using drugs in her vehicle. The caller told police that the woman was slumped over her steering wheel. Police spoke to the woman, identified as Andrea Miller, 48, who said she was looking at her phone with her head on the wheel. The vehicle was not running.

Police said that as Miller was exiting her vehicle to perform field sobriety tests, officers saw two empty wax paper bags in the door handle.

Police said Miller failed the tests and was determined to be under the influence.

She was transported to her home by police.
