Pancake Breakfast
The Tamaqua Area Drama Club will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the West Penn Fire Company. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the club.
Lewistown Valley Garden Club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club’s October meeting was the annual Family Dinner meeting.
A program on dried and pressed flowers was presented by Linda Bolinger and included a take-home greeting card made by each member using the dried flowers. The catered meal and program was enjoyed by all.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 in Memorial Hall. Members should take note the earlier date due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The program will be a greenery project made by each member. Anyone who has greenery to share is asked to bring some, as well as their own decorations and clippers to cut greenery if available.
The arrangement to be judged will include a cooking utensil, and the specimen will be any blooming shrub or berry bush.

St. Peter’s — West Penn
The 9 a.m. Sunday morning worship at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn Township will have Holy Communion for All Saints Sunday. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m., and Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m. Also Sunday, the gift card fundraiser is due, and apple dumpling orders are due.
The Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the senior choir follows at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 9, there will be a pork and sauerkraut supper, bake sale and basket raffle from 3 7 p.m.
On Nov. 10, filling orders and free Thanksgiving meal registrations are due.
Calvary — Lewistown
Pastor Kim will share the message at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Special music will be provided. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m., and the 7 p.m. Sunday service will feature singing and sharing. All are welcome.
The prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. All are welcome.
Any shoe boxes prepared for the Christmas shoe box program must be at the church by Nov. 17. There will be a prayer of blessing for them.
The annual harvest home service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 24 with nonperishable or fresh fruits and vegetables presented to Pastor Kim.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 24 with 23 members present.
Vice President Eileen Keich opened the meeting with the invocation, “All Weather Love.”
Two members were added to the sick list. The secretary and treasurer’s report were accepted by four members. One member was welcomed back.
The group chanced off a harvest basket with pumpkin mugs, which was won by a member. Refreshments were served. The meeting closed, and bingo and cards were played.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the service at Zion Church Lewistown Valley at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Communion and First of the Month offering will be included in the service. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
A hayride will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. “The Chosen” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday in the social hall.
