Police said Stewart was driving a 2012 Ford Focus southbound when he lost control of it while negotiating a right curve. The car left the road and struck the guide rail, causing disabling damage. The car had to be towed.

Police said Stewart and Conapinski left the scene with the car resting on the roadside.
