The Nesquehoning Historical Society is continuing its 2024 Presentation Series on local history.

Join the group as local author and historian Vince Hydro presents a survey of the famous Mauch Chunk Switchback Railroad. The show is entitled: “The Switchback Railroad: Selected Scenes from Then and Then and Now.”

There will be one showing at 2 p.m. on Saturday; doors open an hour before the presentation.

The events will take place at the NHS Museum, 157 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning.

This event is open to the public.

In addition, the society is hosting a bus trip to Lancaster on Thanksgiving Day for the showing of “White Christmas” at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater.

The bus will leave the CVS parking lot at 9 a.m. on Nov. 28 and arrive at the theater at 11:30 a.m. for a buffet lunch before the 1 p.m. show. Tentative time to arrive back home is 6 p.m.

Reservations and payment are due by Nov. 8.
