Letter to the editor: Angry about terrorist depiction

Unbelievable but true. Driving behind a semi on 78 West in Allentown, I saw on the back of the rig’s trailer an image of an Islamic terrorist holding an AK-type rifle.

This image was very large and unmistakable.

I passed the rig for the name of the trucking company and was stunned to see the Iranian coat of arms on the driver’s door: The trucking company name was in Arabic.

I was incensed: I emailed Senators Casey and Fetterman, Representative Matt Cartwright, State Sen. Rosemary Brown and State Rep. Jack Rader.

I received a form letter from Sen. Fetterman, a polite response from Senator Brown, no response from Sen. Casey or Rep. Cartwright.

I did receive an immediate response from Rep. Rader’s office referring me to the Department of Homeland Security who, as of this date has not responded.

I guess “See something, say something” does not translate into DHS actually doing something.

I contacted the Allentown FBI office who, informed me that due to free speech, they were powerless.

I am grateful for our constitution but am angered by that truck. Does no one remember the devastation of the Oklahoma City bombing when 168 innocent people were slaughtered?

Or the van loaded with explosives at the Twin Towers in 1993 killing 6? How many people could die with a trailer load of explosives?

And now, a designated terrorist state is allowed on our roadways. I leave it to the TN reader to consider why this has changed.

If we lived in Iran, could we drive a semi with an American soldier image on the trailer and an American flag on the truck’s door?

Certainly not with “death to America” and fatwahs against American citizens ringing in our ears on an endless loop.

I know that I would not be able to; I am a woman and not allowed to drive in Iran. I disagree that this truck should be on our roads given its clear attempt to terrorize Americans. I am a proud and grateful American.

But I am angry as all get out.
