State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• Raquel Perez, 26, of Easton, died of injuries she sustained in a one-vehicle crash at 3:44 p.m. Oct. 2 at the intersection of Route 309 and Lowhill Road in Heidelberg Township.

Police said she was pronounced dead at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, after being transported there by personnel from the Northern Valley Ambulance Corps.

She was driving a 2022 vehicle when she veered to the right and the car traveled across the right-side fog line, off the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

• A 2022 Chevrolet Equinox was damaged when it struck a deer at 5:33 p.m. Oct. 26 on Indian Trail Road, Allen Township.

Police did not identify the driver but said the vehicle was northbound when the deer ran into the roadway and was struck.

The front bumper and passenger-side headlight assembly were damaged by the impact, police said.

The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene, and the driver was uninjured, according to police.

• Police investigated a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:53 p.m. Oct. 23 on Mountain Road in Heidelberg Township.

They said the crash involved a 2005 GMC driven by Robert J. Batarick, 18, of Kempton, and an unknown vehicle.

Batarick was uninjured, police said.

• Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:31 p.m. Oct. 23 on Route 145 in North Whitehall Township.

Police said Keith O. Henritzy, 55, and Sherry Buskirk Henritzy, 54, both of Walnutport, were injured but did not require a medical transport from the scene. They said the severity of their injuries was unknown.

The crash occurred when Keith Henritzy was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. Police did not provide any other details.

• John M. Karpyn, 57, of Germansville, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance following a crash at 9:38 a.m. Oct. 19 on Route 309 in North Whitehall Township, according to police. He was uninjured in the crash.

Police said he was driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound when it entered the eastbound lane, swerved back into the westbound lane and then left the road, struck an embankment and rolled over several times.

Police said they found Karpyn standing at the side of the road and that he had a strong odor of alcohol about him.
