Lehigh Township
Lehigh Township Supervisors conducted the following business at the board meeting last week:
• Announced Turkey Hill has changed plans for its project at Route 248 and Blue Mountain Drive in Cherryville.
The company will be resubmitting a plan for smaller building.
• The budget was discussed for 2025.
The board approved road paver repair, not to exceed $18,240.09. The repair for the Road Paver was put in the 2025 budget because that is when payment will be due.
The budget also includes new computer laptops for police station and bigger monitors in the township office.
The generators for police station, township building and maintenance building are in the 2025 budget.
• Keith and Karen Hantz and Zachary Bittner were approved for extension of time to Dec. 31, for preliminary/final minor subdivisions.
• The board approved final payment request #8 to Livengood Excavators of $101,200.09 for the maintenance building.
• The board directed the zoning officer to act on violations in the course of driving around the township, written complains taken by office staff and immediate danger situations. Forms for complaints are in the township office.
Questions from the public included:
• Resident Katherine Mack asked the board, “What happens to residents who chose not to pay the fire tax?” The Board said it’s just like any tax. It will be turned over to collection. The Fire Tax was voted in on November 2023. It is approximately $55.82 per household annually.
• Questions were asked about the status of the Trump sign on Wood Road in the township. Property owners were cited for safety violations. Township Solicitor David Backenstoe said, “Their 20 days were up and the Zoning officer filed the violation with the magistrate.”
