State police at Frackville
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:
• A 72-year-old woman from Mahanoy Township told police she mailed a check to the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority to pay her water bill and placed it in the mailbox outside the Mahanoy City Post Office.
She told police someone obtained the check, altered the withdrawal amount and payee’s name and then cashed it at a Wells Fargo Bank branch.
• Jason Ashfield, 47, of Delano, was charged by police with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after police were summoned to a property on Hazel Street in Delano Township.
Police said a 66-year-old woman from Delano told them Ashfield borrowed her 2015 Subaru Crosstrek around 11 a.m. Oct. 11 and was to return it by 1 p.m. that day. As of 5 p.m. Oct. 13, the vehicle had not been returned to the woman, police said.
• Omar Taylor, 30, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody by police on an outstanding warrant after a traffic stop they made at 8:05 p.m. Oct. 8 on Barnesville Drive in Mahanoy Township.
Police said Taylor was stopped in a 2012 Chevrolet Impala for numerous violations, after which time police learned he was wanted in New Jersey.
Taylor was arraigned and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $50,000 bail.
• Joseph Bassetti Jr., 40, of Summit Hill, is facing terroristic threats charges after police were called to a property on West Ruddle Street in Coaldale at 7:47 p.m. Oct. 19.
Police said that a witness told them they observed Bassetti make significant threats to someone before leaving the scene in an SUV.
The suspect was not found during a canvass of the neighborhood, police said.
• Christopher Owens, 44, of Barnesville, was cited for simple trespass after police were called to an incident at 11 a.m. Oct. 14 on Barnesville Drive, Ryan Township.
A 67-year-old man from Hatfield, told police Owens walked through his yard without his permission and remained there for a short time after being told to leave.
• A 64-year-old Barnesville man reported a criminal mischief incident at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 on Park Place Road, Mahanoy Township.
Police said he reported between the overnight hours of Oct. 11 and 12 that someone smashed the front windshield of his 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck and the rear window of his 1977 F350 truck.
• A 47-year-old Coaldale man was cited for harassment by physical contact after police were called to an incident at 7:17 a.m. Oct. 10 at a residence on West Earley Avenue, Coaldale.
A 42-year-old woman from Coaldale told them the man shoved her and struck her in the head.
