October 24, 1981 — Tamaqua uses a pair of long scoring drives to help gain a 22-7 victory over Panther Valley. After the Panthers take an early 7-0 advantage on Mike DeMatto’s 6-yard touchdown run, the Blue Raiders respond with a 17-play, 88-yard march that gives them the lead. Joe Urenovitch connects with John Weeks for 13 yards and Bob Rottet for 12 to convert on a pair of third-down conversions and Urenovitch ends the drive with a 1-yard run. In the third frame, Tamaqua travels 91 yards on another 17-play march to score again. Greg Hinkle caps the long drive with a 5-yard TD run. Hinkle adds another 5-yard tally after an Urenovitch interception to seal the win.
