Lehighton 6th grader earns awards for artwork at fair

Lucy Versuk, 12, of East Penn Township, won several prizes for her artwork at the Bloomsburg Fair.

The daughter of David Versuk and Jeanette Pupko, both of Lehighton, Lucy has been drawing since the age of 3 with a natural gift.

She is a sixth grader at Lehighton Area Middle School.

Lucy submitted three drawings, all done in colored pencil, with the stipulation that each one had to be placed into its own category/class.

“Spanish Moon Moth” was entered into the Colored Pencil: Ages 10 to 14 category, where it received honorable mention.

The dog portrait titled “Moxie” was entered into Colored Pencil: Animal (all ages) and received second-place honors.

“Boy on Bike” was entered into Colored Pencil: Portrait (all ages) and captured first place.

Her family said that she was thrilled to see each one had received an award, but even more excited to place first in a category that included artists of all ages.

Lucy plans to continue entering her artwork at local fairs in the coming years while her talent continues to grow.
