Golf cart scavenger hunt, art show benefits Love Kidder
Clue number one read, “Putt putt time. Make a hole-in-one to get your next clue.”
The scavenger hunt to benefit Love Kidder Township was conducted on golf carts as participants drove around the course at the Sunset Green Restaurant and Bar in Lake Harmony, collecting clues along the way.
Over 20 people participated in the scavenger hunt.
A $20 registration fee benefited Love Kidder Township.
Beth Hurley, president of Love Kidder Township said, “We serve the residents of Kidder and surrounding areas with respect to the preservation of the environment, particularly related to warehouses. We’re concerned with the devastation of the land that has been bulldozed, which is a real insult to the community as there is a loss of habitat.”
In one year of existence, the organization has 465 members.
Hurley thanked Jeff and Shelly Lutz, owners of the golf club and restaurant, for making the venue available and having proceeds to further the mission of the organization.
Love Kidder Township also represents the community at board of supervisors meetings, having 80 members attend the last meeting.
Some of the funds raised are used for attorneys and engineers to provide content to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection as to why warehouses would not be good for the community.
Laurie Davidson and Mary Farnschlander participated in the scavenger hunt.
Davidson is back in the area after 24 years in Washington D.C. as she purchased Piggy’s Restaurant from her parents.
Farnschlader said, “It’s a good cause. We want to prevent warehouse proliferation.”
Following the scavenger hunt, a silent auction was held at the restaurant.
Items up for bid included 34 prizes donated by local photographers and artists.
Jean Farnell donated several watercolors, because she wanted to “help the township because of warehouses.”
