Lang’s Landscaping keeps on growing

They’ve seen their business grow from lawn mowing and snowplowing into a successful landscaping and tree service.

The business won the best tree service category in the Times News Readers’ Choice contest.

Led by a fourth-generation landscaper, Lang’s Landscaping Inc. at 135 Sunny Rest Drive in Palmerton continues to make its mark.

Matthew Lang, owner, started the business mowing lawns while still in high school. The business became incorporated in 1996.

Since then, Lang and his crew have serviced most of the Palmerton community and surrounding communities.

In addition, it has traveled as far as Buffalo, New York, for storm work after a major snowstorm.

Paul Bunyan Inc., of Somerset, and FEMA hired Lang’s Landscaping to remove damaged trees and limbs on power lines to help restore power.

Locally, the business is a contractor for Blue Ridge Communications and Palmerton Telephone Company.

“We do residential and commercial work,” said Jackie Lang, secretary. “We clear large areas of land for large companies.”

Lang said the business is “pretty old school. We’re pretty much word-of-mouth, and do lots of donations for different events.”

What’s more, Lang noted that the business is extremely involved with veterans.

“We laid all of the pavers in the Palmerton (Borough) Park at the Veterans Memorial,” she said. “We donate our time to hang veterans banners all around our community.”

Lang said they have also made large paver patios and walkways, fire pits, ponds and block walls, use high quality materials and are reasonably priced.

“Generally, the feedback we get back from our customers is pretty spectacular,” she said. “We have a lot of repeat customers.”

Lang said they constantly do continuing education to keep up to date with pesticides, fertilizers, tree and lawn care, and have licenses to administer pesticides, fertilizers and treat pests like the spotted lanternfly.

“We have a wide variety of equipment for any kind of job; large bucket trucks, stump grinders, excavation equipment and much more,” she said. “We are fully insured.”

Lang said the business does tree removal, tree trimming, stump grinding, wood chipping, land clearing.

Hardscaping patios, walkways, steps, fire pits, waterfalls and walls; spring clean up and fall clean up; new lawn installation; grub control and crabgrass control for the lawn; fertilizer for the lawn; herbicide spraying and weed killer; tree, shrub and flower planting; mulch installation; edging and trimming.

“We tell our customers that are looking for a beautiful lawn to consider getting on a fertilizer schedule,” she said. “Fertilizing your lawn can help it look healthier and get rid of crabgrass and grubs.

“We fertilize lawns three to four times a year. We ask customers interested in getting on a fertilizing schedule to call us over the winter months so we can add them on a schedule to begin in the spring.”

Lang, who said the business provides free estimates, except for when it’s an insurance claim, has roughly 10 employees.

“Our crew are all hard workers and have families to support, which is why we are always trying to ensure we have plenty of work lined up,” she said. “We do honest work and strive to keep our customers happy.”
